Oregon is blessed with large expanses of wilderness just outside of Portland, surrounding Mt. Hood.
However "wilderness" is not necessarily untouched by the hand of man, despite the definition of the word.
Forest Service management sees fit to harvest timber well within view of scenic areas,
creating an unsightly patchwork effect between plots of harvested trees and stands intact.
