040920 New Growth

This is an old tree stump. Beck
and I had the tree taken
down a couple of years ago
because it was starting to
rot and we were afraid it
would come down in one of
our wind storms. While taking
pics last night I happen to
stand on it and saw the new
growth. Blackberry vines of course.

Nikon D70
1/125s f/5.6 at 28.0mm iso1400 full exif

The way the plant is sheltered by the walls of the stump reminds me of the way trees in Zion Canyon are sheltered by the canyon's walls.

I like the angle of this shot. And the textures are wonderful. Plus it has meaning. New growth from old.

Amazing ... the rebirth of life. This image is rich in sybolism as well as being well done.
