040909 Americana

These farms are about half a mile from
where we live. We are just west of them.
One of these farms has a herd of 300.
Can you imagine how long it takes to
milk all of them? I grew up on a farm,
but we only had a herd of 30. I have alot
of respect for the farmers. I know
how hard they have to work!

Lovely, lush and green. I'll bet the milk is very nice.

Beautiful scenic.

Don't they have automatic milkers now? I suppose there's still a log or work involved.

And one thing people don't realize is how dangerous farming is. Have on of those big girls mash you up against a wall. And a couple years ago, a neighbor's son died from inhaling the chemicals while cleaning out the tanker.

So while farms are pretty, they are hard and hazardous work. But your shot captures the idyllic look of the agricultural landscape.

I like looking at them but wouldn't want to own one. I admire you for your time spent on yours.

very pretty..... the cows are so small inthe image I can hardly imagine how sprawling and vast the land must be..... I almost never get to see a scene like this.... thanks for sharing

Beautiful pastoral scene
(Managing a herd of 300 dairy cows is quite an undertaking.)

Wonder if the farmers can appreciate the beauty, with all their chores. Very pretty Katie.

Beautiful landscape, Katie.

It probably doesn't take any longer than it did to milk 30 head. The new equipment is much faster and efficient...nice photo.
