Vogalonga 25

This incredible 22 mile row from St Mark's Square in Venice, Italy, around Burano and Murano and through the Canneregio to the Grand Canal is a yearly extravaganza in May. It celebrates a temporary lull in motorised traffic on the canals, and the resurgence of traditional boats. Now it has become international, with Venetian boats still there but in the minority -- is it time to limit numbers? 2100 boats took part this year! Prints available, email Kathymansfield@mac.com
