Just 3 1/2 years ago Iain Oughred designed the St Ayles skiff after a Shetland Fair Isle skiff, for the Anstruther Boat Museum and the Scottish Coastal Rowing Project, with laser cut plywood kits available for communities through Jorden Boats. The idea has gone viral through Scotland and has spread around the world, and the first World Championships had crews from Scotland, Europe, East and West coasts of America and even Tasmania, Australia. 1000 rowers and supporters and 32 boats arrived in the Scottish Highland gem of Ullapool and raced for a week in glorious weather.
