This iconic boat was launched in 1930 and was perhaps the most famous of the many designs of Olin Stephens, working with his brother Rod as Sparkman & Stephens. The ventilator that he designed has become known as a dorade, named for the boat. Many races were won on Dorade, including the Bermuda Race, the TransAtlantic, the TransPac, the Fastnet -- and with her new owners she has been restored and revisited all these races, winning them all again and at a faster time. Here she is, at the after a symposium dedicated to this boat in Castine with a celebratory regatta, and the Eggemoggin Race Regatta.
