This building is the former Loretto Academy. The first Loretto Academy
was opened on this site, inside a former inn, the Canada House,
in Sept. 1861, when the American Civil War was just starting.
The property was sold to the owners of the Fallsview Sheraton Hotel
just to the north of the Academy propery around 2006 and has been vacant
every since.

In June 2009 - it was reported that approval has been given for
the owners to build three new high rise towers (a 57 storey hotel;
a 42-storey tower; and a 32-storey tower).

The original building is to be preserved.
