On 19 May 2013 a massive fallout of warblers occurred on Park Point, Duluth during strong NE winds, rain and fog. Due to an exceptionally late spring and late leaf-out, these birds had trouble finding food in the trees, and so resorted to feeding on the beach in the debris line where they appeared to have better success finding food. Even more amazing, the same NE winds, rain and fog continued for four days, giving the birds little opportunity to leave, and as a result this fallout lasted until the afternoon of 22 May, with 22-25 species of warblers seen all four days, and 26 species of warblers seen during the 4 day event. Because this was such a once in a lifetime opportunity to photograph warblers at such close range, with all 26 species seen within just a few feet on the ground, I spent three and a half days crawling around on the beach in the rain and wind to get these photos.
