Barcelona is a city of many beauties. My passion for color endears me to Gaudi, but there are other Modernista architects whose creativity graces the little old warrens and pockets of life on hidden streets.
History drips everywhere. A small ancient square pocked with shrapnel holes from WWII, where now kids wait after school for their parent. Buried off a busy street, a dark alley to an odd shaped swimming pool for kids built to surround an historic tower nestled among backyards of old apartment buildings. Gothic churches. Chapels dating from the twelfth century. Remains of old protective walls with sentry towers. Barcelona is made for meandering.
