It was an exceptionally mild early winter in Helsinki in 2004-2005. In mid January the sea was not frozen yet, but the water flushing the shores froze on the cold red granite. This gave the rocky shore a shiny ice cover that at sunset reflected the blue sky while the sun rays painted the granite a warm yellow.
