This handy device, cleverly named "SPOT", was basically our only link to the outside world-- we could push 1 of 4 buttons that sends an email out to a list of people WITH our exact GPS coordinates: On/Off, Help (which means we'd like you to send food), 911 (which means we'd like you to send PEOPLE to save us from various dangers like bear or lion attacks), or "OK" (which means we're alive and well!)
