bison and nursing calf

Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming

... the state of Montana has begun implementing a bison
"hunt"... in reality the bison are no longer wild and so they
don't run from humans...on the 15th of November a bull bison
was shot from 20 yards away by a so-called "hunter" who then had to
shoot the animal four more times for it to take 45 minutes to die...
if you would like more information on this atrocity, including a
link to a video of the shooting and the subsequent struggling of
the bull bison as it died, click HERE
the state of Montana contends that the bison are a threat to the
cattle "industry" because they carry brucellosis...in fact, there is
no evidence that bison pass brucellosis to cows, and the elk that are LEGAL
to hunt also carry brucellosis but the state of Montana does not have
any plan to confine them to Yellowstone Park or to encourage their
eradication... this "hunt" of the last free roaming herd of bison in the US is
proceeding as you view this photo... if you care about the bison of
YOUR National Park, please contact your federal representatives and
the state of Montana to register your objection...

Awful story but beautiful photograph in such interesting light.

I hope the people who live in Montana become outraged enough by this to do something about it. Thanks for alerting people to this. Beautiful animals and photo.
