north pierhead light

Kenosha, WI

... there was a bank of brighter clouds
north of where this photo was made; it was
really beautiful and this photo doesn't show it well...

I don't know what it is about lighthouses, but they just grab you in, don't they? I understand your disappointment, but this is outstanding.

The power of nature and the lonely lighthouse. There should be a story this illustrates.

Really stands out there on the jetty, just waiting to guide the next boat in. Good shot.

Love your little biography of being a photographer! I am new to the game but enjoy seeing the works of others on PBase and I really fance a trip over to your part of the world to take pictures. Seems you have plenty to point the 20D at !!

Lovely - almost a 'sentinel' aspect to this, as if the lighthouse is standing on guard - which I suppose it is. I think you captured it all beautifully. Sometimes I find that the photo doesn't do justice to what you could see with your eyes though.

I love the look of an approaching storm which gives the lighthouse meaning. The sky is really dramatic.

I almost expect to see that sharp saber of light swinging around any second now as it scans the outer horizon . .it may not be what you wanted, but it's a good shot nonetheless =]
