bit me!

Ronnoe Park in Marinette, WI

...so, there I was happily wading around in a
restored shoreline prairie, photographing flowers,
when I felt my leg burn over and over; after I
stepped out of the plants I noticed this guy/gal
hanging on my shorts by its web...guess I know why I had
that burning sensation...

Awesome shot of the spider that bit you.

I would have swatted and ran off a bit. THEN when i calmed down, gone back to see what and if it wass still there!
It's a kewl looking critter though.

I think I would have had a heart attack on the spot... Spiders are not my favourite creatures (and our spiders are pretty tame looking compared to this).

Is this a white spider? Their bite's supposed to be pretty dangerous. Keep an eye on those bite marks. At any rate, it's a great macro and educational as well since I'll be keeping an eye out for this bug.

fierce little thing!

Took me awhile to find this but I see what you meant in your comment. Too bad it had to bite you to get your attention, but it's a cool looking one with it's semi translucent body.

I have a couple of bite marks on my calf and I guess that the burning sensation was the spider biting me. Generally, unless I feel threatened or startled, other creatures don't bother me, so this spider hanging by a web was more interesting than startling. I think this is and agriope spider or garden spider. Leg is fine; no swelling or anything. I shouldn't have been wading around in tall flora without proper pants on...I know better than that :^)

She's probably heard of PBase and couldn't think of any other way to get your attention so you would take her picture. Quite a pretty spider; I've never seen one like this (and don't want to, now, thanks!). Hope your leg is okay. Nice shot -- always put the picture over the pain!

I am fascinated by spiders -- freaked out, but fascinated none the less. Is this a hammock spider? I was trying to ID him with my bug book but I can't quite tell. Kudos to you for getting the shot. Why was there burning? Is that part of the feel of this spiders bite?
