makin' hay

Michigan

...I grew up on a dairy farm and I just can't
seem to get used to this new fangled type of hay
bale; the baler sure is small and it doesn't
take a whole crew to load and stack the hay in
the barn...but, when my brothers and I would spend
the day haying and then run down to the lake and
jump in to get rid of the chaff were sweet times...

other sizes: small medium original auto

nice image and thanks for you memories, when i was a kid we lived in Germany for a few years, they would stack it what seemed near 2 stories high, we used to climb up it and look for miles across the fields.

Brings back lots of memories. I to grew up on a dairy farm and remember the haying season and the hard work.

A classic Wisconsin scene. This fall I'm going to attempt to do a 1-week series of farming.

There's nothing like the smell of new-mown hay to make one sigh, and smile. Such a sweet smell of goodness, and memories.

Nice image. I can also remember what it felt like to climb up a stack of bales by poking hands and feet in between them.

I don't have memories like that, thank you for taking me there and making it so real.

Just took some shots of these types of bales outside Kirriemuir (birthplace of JM Barrie - author of Peter Pan). Unfortunately, mine didn't turn out at all. This is lovely... I want to be there.
