world's largest shell factory

North Fort Myers, FL

...another of those old time Florida attractions
it's always full of tourists
and I wonder how there can be a shell left in
any ocean....

Strange to say, I've been here since I visit Lehigh Acres just outside of Ft. Myers at least once a year.
It is undoubtedly one of the premier tourist traps but one can't refrain from loving it for it's brashness.
Loved your South Florida travelogue.
Aloha

I just love those tourist traps - we had a blast when we visited San Francisco last year, focusing on Chinatown and Fisherman's Wharf. In fact, our fondest memory is our daughter's total breakdown on Pier 39...next to the Merry-go-Round. I mean...total...nuclear meltdown. Really good capture, Jypsee!

This does beg the question... what exactly do they manufacture there. Or perhaps they just clean treat and laquer shells for commercial use? Nice shot, albeit a little disturbing with all the clashing of nature and commercialism.

Sometimes I'm suprised there's anything at all left in the oceans ...

I've never heard of a shell factory before. I'm wondering what kind of things go on in there.

Sort of fitting to have the subway (submarine) sandwiches there too.. I wonder the same thing about shells..
