We got up two hours before the sun (which, in Tibet, means we got up at 7:00am) and headed north to Namtso Lake, about 200km north of Lhasa. We had some breakfast at a town along the Qinghai-Tibet road and railway and then headed up into the mountains to the lake. The Lake itself is at 4800m or 15,750ft, so were pretty short of breath. But it was amazingly beautiful and Aldri and I managed to do a tiny bit of climbing to get a better view. Then we headed back home in the afternoon and I got a killer Yak Burger.
First glimpse of snowy mountains in the morning.
First ray of sunlight over the mountains.
Sunlight on the mountaintops in the distance with the Qinghai-Tibet road and railway stretching out below.
Yaks, masters of the road.
Yak crossing blocking the road as we head up into the mountains.

The northern end of the Lake.
Prayer flags over the lake.
More prayer flags.
Something in here is not a prayer flag...
Tall mountain in the distance to the east.
Sun over the snow fields.
Another master of the road.
Less of a master of the road, a black cat crossing our path...
