Serengeti National Park

Tarangire was a great start, Manyara was a relaxing cruise, Ngorongoro was stunningly beautiful, but Serengeti was the big daddy. Leopards playing in a tree, lions fighting over a kill, cheetahs on the hunt, and of course the great migration making its way south were just some of the amazing things we saw.
Entrance gate, doesn't look like much... A rare Serval, kind of like a giant house cat. Serval licking its paw. Serval in the grass. A hyena with a kill in the early morning.
Hyena chilling by the road. Closeup shot, you can see the truck reflected in its eye! A Topi. Dead Zebra and a curious Baboon. A pair of Elands in the distance. They are the second largest antelope in the world, and very fearful of the trucks.
Giraffe! Vulture perched on a tree. Giraffe mid-stride. Closeup of a tough-looking Water Buffalo. A jackal crossing the road.
Lovebirds taking flight. A pair of goofy looking Hartebeest. Lion in the grass. Wounded lioness. Drinking Zebra.
A lonely Wildebeest crossing the road between our trucks, in light drizzle. A wide shot that doesn't come close to capturing the sheer numbers of animals in the migration. A closer shot, pretty much every dot you can see is an animal as far back as you look. A Marabou Stork and a Wildebeest. A Bare-faced Go-Away Bird.
Zebra trotting across the road. Dude, your stripes are broken. A Bateleur Eagle, sadly this was the only one we saw and I couldn't get the camera focused correctly. A pair of vultures chilling in a tree. Love the pose these guys gave us.
A goofy looking Vulture. Baby Zebra. Ostrich on the run, chasing another one. And crossing the road. This chase went on for a while.
Ostrich butts. Ostrich displaying and making a lion-like roar with its neck. A single-horned Impala. Giraffe butt. A steenbok.
Giraffe close up. Hippo close up. Happy as a hippo in shit! Immature Nile Crocodile. Watch out for crocs little Vervet Monkey!
Massive Nile Crocodiles in the distance. Tough looking dude... Lots of hippos, they smelled like cattle... A leopard barely visible way up in a tree. Sleepy lioness.
Lioness walking toward the water. And OF COURSE she drinks RIGHT behind the bush. Collared lioness, used to track the pride through the park. Giraffe in great light. I thought this was really cool looking, and then we saw the next series of photos...
Juvenile leopard chilling in the tree, they're usually sleepy... Leaping leopard! They're usually sleepy, but this little guy decided to start playing around! Oh just a leopard climbing a tree branch... Leopard! A juvenile leopard in a sausage tree, not something I'd expected to see...
Mommy leopard! The juvenile relaxing... Oh wait, a THIRD leopard is joining the party, another juvenile. The other juvenile jumps over mom to go chat to its brother. The newcomer pausing to meow at its family in the tree.
Oh, just THREE LEOPARDS IN A TREE. Three leopards in a tree... Contemplating another leap. All legs and tails... g9/78/587478/3/157660057.9XPSHVPQ.jpg
Doing a little grooming. All three playing around. More grooming. Gotta get the little fella clean! Thanks for posing guys.
Epic Leopard. Browsing Giraffe at full stretch. Sunset in the Serengeti. Thompson's Gazelle. Three warthogs staring us down while a Thompson's Gazelle pees in front...
A White-Bellied Bustard. A White-Bellied Bustard. Jackal. Jackal trotting across the road toward a kill. Vulture flying in, checking out the kill.
And joining the colony of vultures waiting for the jackal to finish eating. Jackal with the kill. Giant giraffe striding across the grass. Family of four giraffe. The big male had to be 20ft tall. There was some debate as to whether that's two or three cheetahs under that tree, I'm pretty sure it's three.
A Black-shouldered Kite. Lioness with a fresh kill! She just walked in between a couple trucks like they weren't there. And her juvenile son joined. He waited while she ate, but didn't wait too long. She jumped up to scare him off.
So he waited a little more... Then he got tired of it... And she leapt at him. He had to try to dodge her. And then the fight began.
Lion fight!!! Lion fight!!! Lion fight!!! Lion fight!!! Lion fight!!!
Lion fight!!! Lion fight!!! Lion fight!!! Lion fight!!! She grabs the kill and runs off with it, while its entrails pour out...
She continues eating, that's a big ole gray organ of some kind spilling out of it... While the juvenile, bloody and defeated, is forced to keep waiting... Yummy. This is how elephants scratch their ears... Juvenile elephant.
A rock hyrax, well fed at the lunch spot. A baby rock hyrax. Secretary bird in the distance, note how long their legs are! Secretary bird staring me down. Secretary bird is unimpressed.
Close up of the secretary bird, mid-blink. Secretary bird in flight. Lion in the grass. All in all there were 17 lions in this pride, the only one up is a juvenile male. Cheetah munching on a kill!
Every now and then she'd pop up to look around and make sure no one was moving in while she ate. Gotta lick up all that yummy blood. Mmmm guts. Tasty. Steven somehow spotted this leopard in the distance behind the cheetah.
This leopard was unimpressed. My only in-focus shot of a Reedbuck, and our only sighting of one. A Black-headed Heron at dusk. The Milky Way from camp. I just had time to get this photo before we were scared off by a loud leopard noise from the dark... Egyptian Geese in the morning.
Marabou stork in flight. Two male Impala. Just some lions chilling in the morning. Lions. Giraffe closeup, goofy looking mouth.
Big Croc in the distance. An eagle with a fresh Black-headed Heron kill. This looks like a nice branch, I think I'll land here NO YOU WONT Oh shit, okay, never mind! ARE YOU KIDDING ME. These dudes were just perched on a mound right next to the main road.
Posing lions. g9/78/587478/3/157660138.IARO01YQ.jpg Checking out some potential prey in the distance. g9/78/587478/3/157660140.Y45ZRUS4.jpg Just beautiful creatures.
Insanely awesome, surely this is the last cool thing we will see in Serengeti... NEVERMIND! Cheetahs by the side of the road... Cheetah on the move. Cheetah closeup. Cheetah in the grass.
Heading alongside the road still. There's the two siblings! Sibling cheetahs staring down some Hartebeest in the distance. Cheetah! Juvenile on the left, mother on the right.
THREE CHEETAH! All three cheetah. Two cheetah. The juvenile spots something: warthogs in the distance... He starts sneaking up...
Continues sneaking... And takes off after them! Full stride! Wider shot. RUN PUMBA RUN!!!!
Pumba might have a chance... Yeah the cheetah was still learning and didn't get any result from this one. Mom waiting for the other son. There he is. The female by the side of the road.
And walking right in the middle of the road! She surveys her domain. Badass cheetah. Sleepy lion using a tree as a pillow! The ultra-rare iPad mini photographer... Great safari camera!
