Hi, Calvin

Thanks so much, glad you like them!

I was in a place not far from the starting place, so I think it was in Santa Clara St.

Hi Jxsq,

Thanks for all the beautiful pics. Looking at the 2006 San Jose Holiday Parade pics, I was wondering where did you stand on the parade route? Santa Clara or Market St.? Thanks.

JX,
I saw that you used the 300mm for the gym pics, but used the 70-200 for alot of others. Which do you prefer, and have you tried the 70-200 2.8 is for gym pics? I am so unsure of what I need to get, and to spend that much and get it wrong would..well you know...lol thanks..my email is cjdufrene@yahoo.com thanks again

hello, guest

thanks so much for the link, are these all yours? Great work there.

It turn out I didn't manage to there for the new year celebration. Looks like I missed some great show.

Where are you? Hope I'll see you in some future events.

thank you my Guest!

This looks interesting and i may go there as well. but after 5:30pm the light will certainly not very good. :(

You may want to bring two bodies, one with 35/1.4L, and another with 135/2!

I wish I have two of these. :)

I guess 35 f1.4L+ 135 f2L will handle the parade well, but really don't like the idea
of changing lens in the middle of ...

Southwest Airlines Chinese New Year Parade
Saturday, February 19th, 5:30 p.m.-8 p.m., RAIN or SHINE
The Southwest Airlines Chinese New Year Parade in San Francisco is the largest celebration of its kind outside of Asia. This year's theme is Year of the Rooster and highlights include elaborately decorated floats, school marching bands, martial arts group, stilt walkers, lion dancers, Chinese acrobatics, the newly crowned Miss Chinatown U.S.A. and the Golden Dragon ("Gum Lung"). The Golden Dragon is over 201 feet long, made with layers of silk, gauze and velvet which cover a bamboo frame. It's always featured at the end of the parade as the grand finale and will be accompanied by over 600,000 firecrackers. The parade starts at 2nd and Market streets, turns right on Geary Street, right on Powell, right on Post, and left on Kearny, ending at Kearny Street and Columbus Avenue. (Parade Map) Free

when will be San Francisco ChinaTown Spring festival parade?

if light is a issue, certainly I will bring 135/2 and 85/1.8. I don't have 35/1.4 and 50/1.4 myself, so I am not sure how these will work.

If I will be forced at same spot, and the light not that bad, say iso400 and I can still get 1/200s or so at f2.8, 70-200IS maybe a better choice.

I am not very good at using wide lens, but I'd think 35/1.4 can be really usuful at times.

thanks.

What lens would you like to bring to shoot San Francisco ChinaTown Spring festival parade? Tough lighting condition.

35 1.4?
50 1.4?
24-70 f2.8?
70-200 f2.8?
135 f2?

pick one. Thanks.

Thanks for taking great pictures at our recent "Moon Festival of the Silicon Valley"! They are colorful and alive and exciting. May we use some of them in publicity for our event next year? Would you consider working with us? Very best regards..... J. Ralph Otte, Board Member, MFSV.
