One treat was the opportunity to spend some time with two of New Zealand's dolphins. Seeing Hector's dolphins was special because they can only be found in New Zealand and their population is not large. This trip also included a fur seal mom and very cute pup onshore. However, for me, it was the dusky dolphins that were most memorable. I had an absolutely thrilling chance to go swimming with them. Actually, they swam with us as we were in the open ocean and it was up to them how close they got. I probably had more than 20 approach to within 10 feet of me. I didn't have an underwater camera, but after sprending some time swimming, I spent some more time catching their acrobatics. What a wonderful way to spend a day.
