This was probably the most fun I had on the island while, for only a few minutes, I snapped off a series of these birds bathing. It was also the most physically uncomfortable I was during our entire stay in Hawaii due to the blazing hot, sharp lava rock I was laying on while shooting. Melanie was laughing at me when I stopped because I had gotten myself all dirty with black grit from the ground. My only regret is that I filled up my compact flash card and had to stop shooting after only 20 or so images.
