Libytheana carinenta
Here is another look at this butterfly with the strangely modified palpi. American Snout butteflies, or "snouters" to us, are a fun butterfly to watch in terms of their behaviors. They seem to fly differently whenever we find them, switching between a rapid skipper-like flight, a low to the ground cryptic satyr-like flight and a more slow and langorous head-height flight reminiscent of a danaid like a queen or monarch.
