Mexican Fritillary

Euptoieta hegesia

This Mexican fritillary was nectaring at this orange low-growing lantana flower when we found it and stopped for this quick snapshot. Lantana is another of those ubiquitous neotropical butterfly nectar sources. After only a few trips, we got to know it well for its abundance and the variety of butterflies that like to nectar at it.
