Green Heron 3

Although the Sigma brand 50-500mm F4-6.3 zoom lens we took with us down to Mexico might not be the most expensive or the highest quality lens out there, we have grown to love the incredible flexibility offered by the wide range of zoom. Here I pulled back a little on the zoom to provide a bit more of the bird in its surroundings. With my longer fixed focal length lens setup, I would never have been able to switch so easily from bird portraits to the scenics in this gallery either.

I think this is my favorite of your Green Heron series. You included a little more of the stump in this shot, which gives the composition better balance, I think. The background is a little distracting, but you blurred it out as much as possible.
