Guango Lodge, Ecuador

Our first stop after crossing over the Andes via the Papallacta Pass was here at Guango Lodge. Images in this gallery were taken on the grounds and out on the trails surrounding the lodge during our two-day stop-over at this terrific spot situated at around 8,800 feet evelation. This was our first stop on the eastern slope of the Andes. We were aware of the variation in avifauna as one travels from one slope of the Andes to the other. But Guango was our first opportunity to see the differences first-hand. And it certainly did not fail to amaze us. The wildlife was simply stunning.
