The Nabatean City Of Mamshit - June 06

Mamshit - known to Greeks as "mempsis" and to Arabs as "Kurnub"- is situated at the intersection of two roads leading from the mediteranean shore to Mt. Hebron, then on ward to Arava and Dead Sea, Petra and the Gulf of Eilat.Mamashit is situated about seven kilometers east of Dimona, along side the main road to Eilat. Within the park, which covers an area of 150 hectares and includes Mamshit Stream and it's dams, lies the ancient Roman - Nabatean city of Mamshit, with an area of four hectares.
