Montreal, the capital of Quebec, Canada, is a bustling metropol of 3 million people. It is located on an island between the Ottawa and St. Lawrance Rivers. Longtime a Huron Indian settlement, it was visted by French explorer Jacques Cartier of St. Malo in 1535 and went on to become the centre of French settlement. The city proudly displays its French culture in all public places, starting from traffic signs marked often in French only. It also has a dynamic culture life and some spectacular scenic spots.
