"Snow" monkeys in Yudanaka, Japan.

The monkeys are in Jigukudana (Hell Valley) near Yudanaka are best known as "snow monkeys"; seeking relief from the harsh winters in the areas hot springs. That doesn't stop them from taking the waters at other times, though and in June the springs were well populated. Earlier in the morning it was mostly young monkeys playing around, but in the afternoon mothers with babies made their appearance. Even the younger babies seemed to enjoy the water and some could swim already.
