Metamorphosis of a Monarch Butterfly

This year we've let the Monarch caterpillars eat our various milkweed plants in and around our greenhouses. As a result we are able to watch the whole metarmorphosis - from egg to larva, pupa to butterfly. It is a fascinating process to watch and one of the many miracles nature has to offer. I've spent hours waiting to witness and capture the moment when the butterfly emerges out of its chrysalis. Several times I missed it just by seconds...
