Japanese Beauties in Kimono

Every year in January, Japan celebrates Coming-of-Age Day, a day on which all young people who became twenty years old in the past year are invited to the city hall for a ceremony. The girls wear beautiful kimonos with long, hanging sleeves that are only worn by unmarried women. The most beautiful part of the outfit is the obi or sash which is worn around the waist and tied into a bow on the back. The white fur collars are only worn on this day. A complete kimono outfit like the ones you see here can easily cost US $10,000 and is therefore often rented for the occasion. Guys usually just wear suits or even casual clothes on this day.

Good selection of quility and traditional pictures. I am married to a Great Japanese girl, her beauty is above and beyond, almost perfection. Her manners are cute, inocent and pure. Although we are 19 years apart in age she is 23 I am 42, we are as one. The Japanese Girl, Woman is truly a special person above all other.

I have been to okinawa, osaka, nara, himeji, and kyoto. i only have one good shot of 2 geisha. great work... its hard to let them take pix. sincerly traveling marine.(ex)

Nice photographs! I'm japanese descendant and I've been to Tokyo. I've heard Okinawa girls are much prettier and they look much different from the Tokyo girls. That's what I've heard. I don't know.

Congratulations, you have indeed captured some of the most beautiful lasses in all their finery. There is so much colour and detail to absorb in each and every picture, that to savour its true beauty one has to look at each portrait, in full size, and study every detail, and colour. However, all placed together is just a jumble of colour and detail, too much for the mind to absorb. The modern Japanese Girl is truly beautiful. I salute them all. Lovely photos indeed and what beautiful traditional dresses.
