I climbed a hill in the Harewood Plains area today, searching for this little Bog Bird's-foot trefoil. I will be away for a week now but hope to find more of them in full bloom in an area a little more accessible when I return.
Lotus pinnatus is restricted to the west coast of North America and ranges from southeastern Vancouver Island, west of the Cascade Mountains and along the Columbia River Gorge from northwestern Washington to central California. This species also occurs sporadically eastward to Idaho. Provincially, Lotus pinnatus is red-listed (critically imperiled because of extreme rarity) as designated by the British Columbia Conservation Data Centre.
