Coprinellus micaceus

Next Door

Found beneath a Mountain Ash tree, in the neighbour's lawn.

It gets its name from the appearance of the cap when in its prime,
which is covered in a granular dust, whitish when young,
then turning a shining gold, like minute flecks of mica.
Unfortunately, all but a few of these have washed off in the rain.
