Attached is a photo of Michel Giralte and myself in the cockpit of a Boeing 747 parked
at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport circa 1977. The woman between us is one of
the United flight attendants. When we were bored on weekends we would drive down to ORD,
listen to aircraft communications on scanners from the roof of public parking, and see how
many aircraft cockpits we could get into. Not something you could do today. Those were the days.
Sounds very nerdy today but it was a blast back then and probably led us, to some degree,
into our respective careers – me as a Weather Forecaster and Michel as an Air Traffic Controller.
