Mary June Thompson Small, 87, widow of Herbert William “Bill” Small, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Johnson-Mathers Nursing Home.


She was born June 1, 1921 in Nicholas Co. to the late Luther & Lorine Berry Thompson, was the co-owner of Small’s Greenhouse, was a member of Carlisle Christian Church where she was a member of the Twilight Council and the Women’s Missionary Society.


Survivors include a son Dr. John T. (Michelle) Small, Arlington, Texas, 2 daughters, June (Larry) Tincher, Carlisle & Catherine“Cathy” (Grant) Mathes, Lawrenceburg, a son-in-law, Joe C. Lewis, Lexington, a brother, Carl Lee Thompson, Frankfort, 10 grandchildren Amanda Carol Hoyle, Joseph Patrick Lewis, June Anne Tincher, Jonathan Christian Lewis, David Alan Tincher, Rebekah Susan Lewis, Michael Paul Mathes, James Eugene Mathes, Catherine Elizabeth Brumagen and William Jackson “B.J.” Tincher, 16 great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter.


She was also preceded in death by a daughter Susan Small Lewis.


Services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday at Carlisle Christian Church by Rev. Steve Smith. Burial will follow in Carlisle Cemetery.


Memorial contributions are suggested to Carlisle Christian Church or the church Missionary Fund.


Visitation is after 5:00 P.M. Thursday at the church.
