It was a beautiful day for the second annual Tri For A Cure Triathlon. The Triathlon consisted of a .3 mile ocean swim at Spring Point Lighthouse, a 15 mile bike through South Portland and Cape Elizabeth and a 2.6 mile run, looping from the campus of Southern Maine Community College to Bug Light and back. The race, to benefit cancer research, was so popular last year that the 2009 registration drew 770 women, closing out in 36 minutes. Approximately 85% of the field were first time participants. The race is expected to raise approximately $400,000.
