The National Alliance on Mental Illness held its annual fundraising walk Satuday. Rainy and raw weather forced the event from the Back Cove in Portland to the USM field house in Gorham but it did not dampen an enthusiastic crowd of close to 500 supporters who raised over $150,000 for this worthwhile cause. The actress Glenn Close, who is a tremendous supporter of people with mental illness was there with her family, and made some opening remarks and joined the walk for the second year.
