The National Alliance on Mental Illness held its annual fundraising walk on Saturday morning May 9th. It was a typical Maine May day since it had everything: from cool and damp and showery, to warming temps and clearing bright skies, all within the space of about 2 hours. A perfect day to walk along the scenic Back Cove path in Portland. A group of about 19 Unum employees joined about 50 other teams to walk in support of NAMI. The purpose was to raise funds to support NAMI's programs, and to help end the stigma of mental illness. There were several hundred people there from all over Maine. NAMI Maine did a great job with everything about the walk, including having Glenn Close (Emmy, Golden Globe and Tony Award winning actress) as this years NAMI Walk Ambassador.
