Each evening at Barra we observe the beautiful solar setting. At a time when it was nearly dark, I noticed a few birds flying very low to the surface of the water, similarly to the flight of Shearwaters. As I viewed the birds with binoculars, I was surprised to see that they were Black Skimmers. (I had been watching this beach, in January, for several years and had never seen a skimmer).
