John Harvard - Cambridge, Mass

The bronze statue of John Harvard that sits before Harvard's University Hall was created by Daniel Chester French and presented to the University in 1884. A common misconception is that John Harvard founded the University, but it was instead named for him. Year after year students and tourists, (many of whom are proud parents), rub the left foot of the statue for luck and have polished the metal to a bright shine. The young freshman from Argentina who told me this bit of trivia, looked momentarily sheepish, then asked, "You didn't touch it yet, did you?" When I answered him, "no, I hadn't", he grinned and said, "good, the seniors pee on it."!

LOL... I was thinking that the foot worked well, acting as a point to draw us into the image. I am looking at it differently now after reading the story.

Wouldn't be the same without that cute story. LOL.

Superb juxtaposition of warm/cool colors, human-touched and untouched bronze. As others have noted, your POV is great! It gives such interest.

Excellent.

The emphasis is on the shoe, both from tonality and perspective...love your POV!

The way you have exposed and composed is uncommon. Shallow DOF, darkness and blue toning make an original image.
