Oct. 14, 2023 Annular Solar Eclipse

On Oct. 14, 2023 there was an annular eclipse of the sun that was visible in the United States from Oregon to Texas. My plan was to travel to Winnemucca Nevada. The forecasts varied from partly cloudy to cloudy, but I decided to go anyway. I spent the night at the Winnemucca Sand Dunes and setup early in the morning. This location was about 11.5 miles south of the center line, giving about 4 minutes and 36 seconds of annular eclipse with a magnitude of 0.966. The duration of the eclipse was 161 minutes. The weather was mostly cloudy with a few thinner areas as the clouds passed by. I wasn't too hopeful, as I missed the beginning (and ending) of the eclipse due to heavy cloud cover, however, I did manage to photograph a timeline of the eclipse which made it a worthwhile drive. My imaging system was a Pentax K5 DSLR, Tamron SP (55B) 500mm F8 Mirror lens, and a Baader Solar Filter riding on an Ioptron Skytracker with counterweight kit.
