Hickson 79

Hickson 79 (HCG79), Galaxy Group in Serpens (Caput). This group of galaxies is also known as Seyfert’s
Sextet. The top three members are (left to right) NGC 6027e, NGC 6027, and NGC 6027b. NGC 6027d is
the smaller galaxy immediately below NGC 6027 and NGC 6027a is slightly below and to the right. The
last galaxy is NGC 6027c which is the vertically oriented galaxy at the bottom of the group. Taken
June 9, 10 and 11 2012 Imaged with CCD Lab’s Q285M camera and a Celestron EdgeHD 9.25 at f10, on a
Losmandy G11/Gemini mount and presented with a slight crop. The L subframes were 12 minutes binned
1x1, while the RGB subframes were 4 minutes binned 2x2 resulting in the following total exposures
L:R:G:B (min) = 384:72:72:72. Captured with Nebulosity, calibrated, sigma combined in Iris with
other processing using PixInsight LE and Photoshop CS. North is up.
