On May 9, 2016 there was a transit of Mercury across the Sun. This was near its descending node. The previous transit was Nov. 2006 and the next transit for Mercury will be in Nov. 2019. At my location the weather had some clouds at sunrise and it didn’t start to clear until about 10 am local time, at which point Mercury was well past mid-transit. I did manage to capture about an hr and a half of the transit. All images in this gallery were taken with the following equipment: a Celestron C80ED refracting telescope, a Pentax DSLR, a teleconverter and a Baader Solar Filter.
