Alton Baker Park - Pre's Trail
Pre’s Trail is a 4.07-mile long running and walking trail which was the inspiration of Steve Prefontaine. Prefontaine’s vision was taken from visits to similar trails in Scandinavia. He hoped the trail would allow him to safely train in Eugene, as well as help spread the influence of running in the pursuit of health. After his untimely death in May of 1975, in the fall of 1975, a public-private partnership built the trail in Alton Baker Park as a tribute to him. http://www.eugene-or.gov/index.aspx?NID=1727
