The Merrimack Square Theater was located at 146 Paige Street from 1909 to 1953, where the John Street Garage is now. According to Nancy Tuttle of the Lowell Sun, it was a converted corporation boarding house and had a lobby of Spanish decor. Owned by several companies, it ended as a Paramount property. The City took the theater by eminent domain to demolish it for parking in December of 1953.
