If you could pick any few days in Elvis' life to spend with him it would have to have been the few that Alfred Wertheimer spent in 56 taking all those famous intimate photographs. He caught him at the transition period when he went from a small local southern act to an international supertstar. I luckily stumbled into the Ballroom at the Peabody Hotel where he was explaining lots of stories behind his pictures to a mystified group.
