The original school was begun at The Darlington Agency in 1871.
It was moved to a wooden school at Concho near Ft Reno a few years later.
The building where I photographed the murals was closed in the early 1980's
which was the end of The Concho Indian School.
Some distance away I discovered this building.
I believe it bridged the gap between the first and last school but there may have been others.
After the classrooms were moved from this building it was used as living quarters for the children and teachers.
Children first grade through eighth grade were taught here then were moved to
Carlisle Indian School in Pennysylvania which is much more famous possibly because of the major Hollywood film "Jim Thorpe, All American" made in 1951.
