Thinking of those who lost their lives in the El Reno tornado last night.

As for us we are now safe no thanks to my stupidity. We went to a town 40 miles away
for dinner and a storm dumped another six inches of rain onto this already flooded
area. I picked a route that I thought would be safe and made it ok through several areas
of roads that were a little underwater. Then I chose to try and cross a very wide area of water where
I had never in my lifetime seen get very deep underwater.. After about a hundred yards I could tell that
the water had reached the undercarriage and was about to float us off the road. Lightning
then revealed that I was heading into water that was several feet deeper. I was able to
slowly back out. I found another way home, getting back home about three hours later than expected.
The worst part for me was Yvetta putting all her trust in me and saying when we got home "Thanks
for keeping me safe" knowing that my dumb and arrogant self almost got her drowned.

A long story that I needed to tell...Thanks friends.

I took a look at the news and this tornado left quite a lot of damage in its wake and sadly peoples lives where lost as well. You did good to get home safely, Jeff despite nearly going adrift in your car, or worse.

Wow, what a story. I’m very glad the both of you made your way out and returned home safe. Be careful out there. We all see the horrible news and images.

The colors, or rather the lack of a wide range of colors, makes the shot imo.V

A thoughtful commentary and photo to illustrate. I am so glad all turned out okay. Love the underwater effect on the bright red tulip. V.

So glad you were able to get you and your wife out of this dangerous situation safely- too many people aren't so lucky trying this. Our region is prone to flash flooding and we are constantly reminded on TV to "Turn Around Don't Drown".

A great tribute for the victims and I am very glad you both are safe now! It must have been a frightening adventure

You read the situation and knew when to change plans. Good job.

Awe Jeff what a story...an experience you will never forget but importantly one you won't ever repeat....I guess to make a little lightness of what could have ended tragically you got to use one of your " get out of jail free " cards.

We are seeing your tragic weather on our news...it's awful.

What a tragical experience !!!! Happily you are safe and I think it is good for you to share your thoughts...

A powerful message and beautiful thought for this image. I am thankful that you and Yvetta are safe. So many are not as lucky and I pray for the bad weather to pass.

Jeff thank you for writing of your experience. A terrifying situation. It was gracious of Yvetta couching it the way she did.

I'm relieved to hear you made it back safely despite everything, and sorry about those who didn't survive.
