Old and new.........

This clearly shows the old and new water levels at Lake Meade at the Hoover Dam..........the orange floats going across the water is suppose to keep boats from going to close to the dam.

Fascinating find, James.

From the DesertUSA website:
"By regulating the Colorado River, Hoover Dam assures a steady flow of municipal and industrial water to Los Angeles, San Diego and other cities in the Southwest."
http://www.desertusa.com/colorado/lm_nra/hoover/du_hoover.html

That is a lot of H2O.

I find this so interesting, because it's one of those shots where I have no sense of scale. It could be 30 feet across or 300 yards. Nice capture!

The dam which supplies our states largest city & surrounds is at 33% capacity & our rainy season has just ended :>( This is a familier & worrying sight.
