North Beach is the world's most famous beach without a grain of sand. North Beach is the gem embedded at the northwest corner of San Francisco. Above Fisherman's Wharf and The Embarcadero - North of the Financial District and Chinatown - and hugging the east side of Russian Hill. Historically - this was the Italian community of The City - that influence is still evident. This is also home to the fifties 'Beat Generation'. Famed 'beat' poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti's City Light's Bookstore is still here and thriving.
