Davis, California is the undisputed bicycling capitol of the United States. Completely flat and with a mild to summery climate most of the year - it is an ideal place to get around under one's own power.

Home to one of The University of California's larger campuses - Davis has a large and affluent academic population. This image was taken at the Davis train station. These are but some of the hundreds of bikes that are parked here. Davis is about 50 km. (30 miles) from the State Capitol of Sacramento; and about 100 km. (60 miles) from San Francisco. The rail line between the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento is among the most heavily used and profitable anywhere in the nation.
